Shanta ( pronounced "Shawn-tay" ), is originally from Starkville, Mississippi. She comes from a family of 5 brothers (1 deceased) and 6 sisters. Shanta's mother is a successful entrepreneur of her catering business spanning over 11 years, while her father serves faithfully as pastor of their local church with a history of leading God’s people for over 29 years. Both of Shanta’s parents are great inspirations and examples in her life of what the love of God and the love of a spouse and family really mean. Derrick is originally from Knoxville, Tennessee. Similar to Shanta, he is also a member of quite a large family with 5 brothers and 7 sisters.
As God in His humor would have it, Derrick is the youngest, as 1 of twins following in the birth line of his 2 older twin brothers. As one of Derrick’s great inspirations, his father faithfully served our country in the Vietnam War. After exemplifying a lifelong journey of education and hard work, Derrick’s father passed away in 2003. Derrick’s mother is a nurse of over 25 years. He believes she is the strongest woman on the planet, showing tremendous patience, perseverance, and godly values of which she worked tirelessly to instill in all of her children, which to Shanta’s benefit and peace of mind includes Derrick.
